im new to cal guns, and i just bought my first gun (glock 22). now im looking to buy ammunition but i dont want to buy just anything. What are some recommendations for the ammo i should get? i just want something for home deffense and to be able to go out and shot without it costing me an arm and a leg. i dont know a whole lot about ammunition, but i have heard of some ammo being better than others, or better for your gun, and even corrosive ammo. i just need some suggestion/pointers so i dont buy something cheap and possibly mess up my gun. thanks

Welcome to Calguns and congratulations on your G22. One nice thing about Glocks is they throw just about everything out through the barrel. They are not picky.
The former commie stuff is fine, but it is dirty and a lot of ranges don't allow it.

Unfortunately, your only choice for .40 ammo at the moment is "Whatever you can find".
Choosing ammo type was a luxury of pre-panic times. Or rather "choosing ammo that's not ridiculously expensive".==================

In a perfect world where ammo is in stock.
For HD Speer gold dot, hornady critical duty and Winchester ranger are all good options. Also, when you buy your defence ammo buy a few boxes and shoot some throught your weapon to make sure it cycles properly with your defence ammo.
As for plinking. The cheapest thing that is on the shelf that reliably cycles.I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.Comment

Buy what ever 180 grain FMJ you can get to practice with and some kind of bonded 180 grain bullet from any of the major manufactures. read this like it will get you started on making a selection. http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=19887California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.Comment
