    Substitutions

    115 gr Speer GDHP 1.125 4 CCI 500 Blue Dot 8.5 1,258

That is the published recipe found on Alliants website. It is very specific as far as the projectile. My question is can I substitute it with any 115 gr bullet? Speer has a few different 115's, but this is the only one I can find data for. I know ballistics will change, but is any115 gr bullet a safe substitution?

What about primers? Can I use any small pistol primer?
    Don't panic bro.

First, read the information Alliant provides before you click on the accept button when entering their reloading site. Their load data is max. To get a start load, reduce by 10%..

Generally with 9mm you can substitute within weight class without any problem. If you want to be super careful, maybe stay within bullet type (jacketed, lead, etc.)

    Yes, any small pistol primer

Good luck have fun and read the warning labels...

You can use different bullets of the same weight but be careful with hp's and ball on the seating die. You can crush the HP if you seat them to hard. You can also use any small pistol primers, if you switch to mag primers check the manual.

I would buy more then one manual, read through them because they all publish they're own data.

and like any caliber, to stay out of trouble, start with a low charge and work up
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

Reduce by10% & work up on any component change. Save nice gun & your face hell somebody else's face.

In addition to what previous posters have said, Minimum Length of the completed cartridge will also be different with different bullets (HP vs RN)

...or HB, I assume? Or do you load those the same as RN's (near max mag length)?
