    Reloading Mount Quandry

    Hey all

    Any input is apprecaited.

I do not have a large place to reload the the Hornady AP if I mounted it on my deks would make 75% of it useless. So, Im thinking of putting this on a wall. Im going to get a good think piece of hard wood 1/2 thick as the backboard. Probably 2 or 3 foot square with a metric ton of screws going into the wall

My quandry is putting a strong enough shelf on that part to support the ammo plant. Im thinking the shelf will be a 2x6 with a 1/8th steel plate on the bottom for added strength but how to attach that to the backboard with the smallest amount or no play at all when pulling or pushing the handle.

I know its not the best option but its what I have.. Thoughts... Ideas...

    Thanks

I would suggest mounting your shelf from the front AND the back. I did some of these in my garage. Basically run a couple of 2x4s from the joists in the ceiling (not the ones next to the wall, the next ones out) and space them however wide you want your shelf. Screw these to the joists and have them bottom out on the ground. Use these as supports for your shelf from the front, while the wall supports the rear of the shelf. This gives you absolutely no up or down play at all. Very solid. I will follow up with pics in a minute.

Don't worry about the weight of your stuff.

The real problem is the amount of force that you will eventually be putting on the handle.

Double whatever you think you will need.

Why don't you mount the press on a 2x4 and clamp it to the table when you want to reload. I do this with my lee loadmaster. allows me to move it around. works perfectly. I had to add another board under the 2x4 because the screws i had were too long
