    How old is this .22Long?

    We found this in my buddy's shed. Anybody have info on this stuff?

    Just a little curiosity.

    I see it ws bought at Mel Cotton's, an old school sportings good store in the Bay Area since the 40's. I think they are in San Jose. Based on the logo, i would guess 1960's era.

      Looks to be mid 60s.

        A .22 long is an extended (Long Rifle) case (to hold all that powder!) with a .22 short bullet on it. Back in in the day when it was bought (I agree with the mid-60s) Longs and Shorts were cheaper than Long Rifles. Since then, though, they have fallen so far out of favor that almost nobody uses them except as curiosities. Thus they are being priced as such and are more expensive than LRs.
