    reloading for m1a1

I reload some bulletS and shot today at the range. They all shot well but the rifle did not eject the spent shells I had to do it manually.
here are the loads as shot
    JHPBT 150GR H335/41.0GRNS
    JHPBT 150GR H335/41.5GRNS
    JHPBT 150GR H335/42.00GRNS
    JHPBT 150GR H335/42.5GRNS
    JHPBT 150GR H335/43.00GRNS
    SPEER MAGTIP 150GRNS VARGET/44.5

    RELOADING MANUAL SERRA FIFTH EDITION

The gas plunger was loose and free and the at the end of the gas tube was was tight and there wasn't any binding pulling back against the spring. I'm thinking that the loads might have been to light to eject the spent round. Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance

According to my Lyman book you are not using enough powder and the weapon is short-stroking. I have my best results with that weapon and 4895 eighter the I or H.

Which edition? I looked at the 49th last night and it showed those as mid-range loads.

I just started reloading for my Garand, it seems that your charge is on the low end from all that I have read plus my questions asked in the forums. I use 4895 with the 150gr fmjbt, my loads are around 47 to 49 grs IMR 4895 not one single problem!. Check this site.. it was referred to me..

Just be advised the data looks to be max or near max start 10% down from what they list. (I crossed the data between that list and my Hornady 7th and 9th)
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

            Your post reads reloading for a M1a1. What is your M1a1? Are you referring to a M1 Garand, 30/06 rifle or a M1-A (M-14) in 308 Winchester/ 7.62 NATO?

I reload for both rifles using H-335 powder with 150 grain bullets. In the M1 Garand 30/06, my got to load with H-335 is 45-46 grains with a 150 gr. bullet.
The rifle cycles great with that load.

In my M1-A 308 Win., I use 43-45 grains of H-335 with a 150 grain bullet. Perfect functioning.

If your question was referring to shooting H-335 in a 30/06 M1 Garand, then your H-335 charges were way too low and that could be why your rifle wasn't functioning properly.

Thanks guys this is what great about CG's. Seeing that is it's my first rifle of that type I didnt want to beat it so I started the loads are in the mid range, the rifle is a M1-a 308 WIN.(m14).

I tried 43 grains of H335 150 grn JHPBT and it still didnt eject the spend case. I have enough imr 4895 for about five rounds I'll try that next thanks Ill keep everyone posted

I think I found the issue, the gas valve was turned off apparently its used with a grenade launcher or when wanting to fire single shot. I test it tomorrow
