My friend has around 500 rounds of 45acp that he had in the service and they are 20-25 years old. Is that to old to shoot ? Whats the life expectancy of ammo kept in a cool dry area ?

They will still be good long after you are dead.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

The CMP still sells WW2 era surplus 30-06 for the Garand, shoots fine.

There are Civil War and Revolutionary War rifles that have been found still loaded and that could still shoot and kill someone. Im sure an enclosed cartridge will be fine loooong after we are both gone....well maybe when your gone. I have plans of being reincarnated as a sea turtleComment

As long as it was kept cool and dry as you stated it will be fine. I've shot 30+ year old ammo my dad had stored away.Comment
