    Which Crimp Die?

Im just starting to reload 45acp and like to crimp on my last station on my 550b. Im reloading for a Colt 1911 only. Ive read postive reviews on both sets Im linking on the bottom but which one would best suit my needs.

Lee Factory Crimp Die...it says it also sizes the case once again in the last step.
    $18

    Lee Taper Crimp Die
    $12

Anything that taper crimps since .45 ACP headspaces at the mouth.

I use a dillon crimp die. Works well and is consistent with measurement.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

So the 2nd one listed would work fine?

I have the second for 9mm and it seems to work fine. But saw the first one listed and made me double think about it.

Of the two, the taper crimp die is a far better option. The LFCD is not optimal.

A much better option would be a Dillon taper crimp die. The die come with a quick release clip that allows you to clean the barrel without taking the die out of your tool head. The barrel is smoother inside, so it operates smoother in your press. Like $30.

I recently ordered a few dies and tools from Dillon. It took about 2.5 weeks to receive them (last Friday). Best thing to do is call them and ask. They can give you a much better ETA.

Another good, if available, option is the Redding taper crimp die. Again, it will be finished a little better in the barrel than the Lee (a little smoother) but not as smooth as the Dillon. Personally, I would wait for the Dillon if I had to, but to each his own.

I like the factory crimp die since it can also debulge glocked brass.

Dillon crimp dies really make it easy to clean the body.
