I would get as big of a wood dowell that will fit in the tube. Tapping it, should not discharge it. Use approropriate safety gear, etc, disclainer, etc.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

It can go off trying to push it out, so keep the ends pointed away from you and don't hold the tube within say 4 inches of where the primer is at any point in the process.

I have done this successfully a few times (just a wild guess, Winchester?). I plugged the end and filled the tube with cheap motor oil, far enough to cover the primer and let it set over night. Next day, drained the oil and immediately pushed away.

You want to make sure whatever you are pushing with is not pointed at anything animate and you hand is not over the object as if it detonates it can launch your pusher like 20 feet in the air.

Ideally the opposite end of the tube (also not pointed at anything) is not covered, this will let some of the energy vent if it does go off.

A single primer may or may not be able to split the tube if it detonates (I know for a fact, multiple primers going off will) so don't hold the tube with a bare hand where the primer is located.

The foregoing is a description of how I did it, not a fool proof description of a safe way to do it, so let your conscience (as well as common sense) be your guide to safety. Basically you are on your own.

When you are done, make sure you meticulously clean the oil off everything that migh come in contact with new primers with a solvent like acetone.

      Good luck.

Call Dillon and ask them the same questions. They will probably tell you to stop and will send you a new tube.

Soak the primer with oil to rend the primer useless. Use a wood dowel and bang it out...safely of course.

Just use something like brake cleaner or gun scrubber to clean it out after.

Bah!! Take a mallet and dowel to it... oh yeah video it to share with us later.

Or you could be safe and follow the soaking of the primers like others suggested.. but the youtube video wont win any comedy awards...

If the dowel is the right size (fills the tube), then you "should" be able to tap it out with a small hammer on the dowel...

I would only recommend knocking it out if your sure there is only the one primer in the tube and not a quantity of them. I have a bunch of primer tubes....where ya located? I can spot you the tube now till your replacement gets here,,,,,I wouldn't pay for a replacement as they WILL replace the one for free.......as soon as the dust settles in the whole ammo and reloading world.
