    Which die is missing?

Hey guys so once again I found myself with a thirst for knowledge that can only be quenched by the information juggernaught that is Calguns.net!

    lol

So I found a guy who says he has a set of RCBS carbide (supposedly) 9mm dies that he doesnt need. He said I could have em for 10 bucks and we are supposed to meet tonight. The only problem is that one of the dies are missing so I was hoping that you guys could help me answer a few questions:

    1. If you look at the picture I am posting and see if you can tell which die is missing as I am not 100 percent sure?

    2. If it makes sense and I go ahead and buy this 2/3 set with intent on buying the missing die, is it bad to use a different brand die to go with this set or should I just stick with RCBS?

    Thanks so much in advance,
    Gary

I see a expanding and a seating die, but no sizing decapping die. Maybe with a better picture it will be easier to see

Oh okay, if thats what it is, would it be worth it to buy these even thought I have to buy that particular die?

That's a good deal even if you have to buy one more die.

That makes me feel better. Is it okay to use a different brand die to go with it (like a LEE, etc) or does it need to be RCBS?

          thanks for the responses, guys

1 those are really old dies. They have changed the lock ring styles since the production of those dies. that style lock ring is a little harder to use because they can be hard to grab with tools

2 RCBS carbide dies come in a gray box not green but that doesen't matter because the only carbide part is the sizeing die that that set doesen't have.

3 it seams to be missing the second seating stem.
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

A crimp die is about $14

If they are complete crap you can at least disassemble them and use the seating die as a seperate crimp die

Also assuming you arn't paying much in gas to get to the trade.

                      Just read your PM.

Also. You may not be able to find a full set right now.

sizing/decapping die is gone. That was the carbide one if there really was one. $10 is still good for what is left.Go on eBay and buy another set, then you will have spare parts

If I tried to use these dies and am missing that 2nd seating stem, would the ones that rcbs manufactures now be compatable if this is an old die?

Okay so I bought the dies and they are super old. From what I gather. One is a sizing die and the other is a seating die. That being said, I think I am missing a decapper/expanding die? From what I read, the really old dies were set up like this. What do you guys think I need to be able to use these suckers? I put up some pics to see what I have. I backed the internals out to give you guys a clear view. The first 2 are of one die and the other two are of the other. Thanks!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363321177.492681.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363321193.133238.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363321205.523247.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1363321216.921651.jpg
