Suggestions for a reloading BENCH?

Hi, I've been lurking this forum for ideas on reloading equipment and supplies (getting that .45 Colt finally pushed me from the thinking-about-it-stage to the okay-I'm-ready stage) and I have a decent idea on how I'd like to start out. However, that most prosaic piece of reloading equipment, the bench upon which the presses are mounted, seem to not be mentioned much. So - any suggestions on a good, sturdy platform that won't break the bank? ATM all I have in terms of tables I can spare are some retired kitchen tables which are 1)not particularly sturdy and 2)I am really reluctant to drill holes into.

Should I troll local yard sales for old wooden computer desks? Or will I have to pony up and pay the piper for a decent setup?

I haven't actually loaded yet but I can stand on it(165 lbs) so it should be just fine I currently have a Rock Chucker Supreme & powder measure on top and it's on there good. Mine is slightly not level.

I used a really good sturdy think desk I got from work. Maybe you can find one at a thrift store or a yard sale

DIY, it is very rewarding to build your own ammo on the bench you built. I did it for less than $200.

I bought a Sears Craftsman almost twenty years back and it's fine. 54"x20". Large, medium and small drawers on the right and a metal shelf, on the left, with empty space below it.

Kind of looks like this, but not exactly:

I saw that one in person a couple of days ago. It's pretty nice. Comes with 2 stainless steel shelves with locks on them.

$299 after instant rebate.

I saw these stacked in the isle at HD and i thought to myself: Self, that would make a nice loading bench.


Then I thought: Self, you already have a nice loading bench and your wife would beat your *** if you came home with another one.

I needed a temporary bench for a while and ended up building one very similar to this... Just 2 kitchen base cabinets, screwed back to back, on casters, with a top. Works great. For the record, that is not me or my cabinet in the picture, just an example.

i got a gorilla rack bench at orchard supply...120 i think...put together and seal the bench top....sturdy...cheers..

Lookup Seville Classics UltraHD Lighted workbench. $229 msrp, and if you can pick up from torrance, no shipping charge.

I mounted a Forster coax on that thing, and after fiddling with the adjustable feet, it made for a very solid bench -- very little movement even during full length resizing. Butcher block countertop is very nice, and the extra light and mounting pegboard holds tools for easy access.

I did build the only two I've worked on...look at images on-line...you'll get lot's of great ideas and be able to decide what'll work best for you.
