plated bullets vs jacketed

So I have been looking for jacketed bullets to reload for my Glock 27 for a couple of weeks with no luck. I have never reloaded before and do not have any experience with plated bullets. What do you guys think? Should I order the plated bullets I can find or wait until I can get jacketed bullets?

It is getting really old staring at my shiny blue dillon and not doing anything with it!

They are about a 4-6 week wait right now but there FMJ is probubly the same same price or cheaper than what ever plated you are looking at.

If you're just plinking with them get what you can find now, even if plated. I've shot about 1k of Berry's in 9mm with good results.

Berrys was taking orders last week and I got 2000K today
I checked Berrys website and everything is now listed as out of stock

Try Midway, They have some Rainiers that are due to arrive this month
Last week Midway had small pistol primers in stock, for about 10 minutes

I prefer jacketed (someone mentioned Precision Delta, my favorite as well), but plated will work fine as well.

A fully supported barrel would be a good idea also. (just in case you are not onto the glock brass bulge yet).

damn, you are right. it was 4-6 weeks on my order I recently got. It should hold me off for 6 months or so.

I like plated bullet very much I pretty much buy Xtreme plated for my 40 & 45. I load the 40 with a midle of the road load 180gr bullets w/ 6.0gr Power Pistol COL 1.130, these shoot real nice for punching holes in paper. For the 45 I like 230gr RN w/ 5.0g Bullseye COL 1.245. Both these shoot very nicely. For 9mm I tend to shoot Montana Gold Jacked because they cost the same as Xtreme when you buy a case!
