Do you think loading a .45 flat point bullet backwards would work as a wadcutter?

Just curious, I don't think it would feed in my 1911, but is it theoretically possible that it could fire properly?

It might work but it probably would not be accurate. It would have to hit the rifling perfect or it would come out of the barrell off center. You could always do a couple and report back.

You would likely have to seat it very deep to allow the gun to go into battery. This would invalidate the QAL data in your load spec, basically putting you back to square one as far as load development. The good news is the 45 auto has a lot of room in the case.

Then after all that you have the feed issue with that flat stub of a bullet sticking out...

My recommendation would be SNS Casting, 200gr LSWC.

I believe the designation would be WCBT for Wad Cutter Boat Tail

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

people do it all the time with hollow base bullets to make hollow points.

Usually not with evil semi automatic handguns.

A while back I read an article where the writer tried this with 38Spl and it worked just fine, he stuck 158gr RN in backwards started low on the powder charge and it worked. But for a semi auto things might not go so well.

Why do you need wadcutters for action pistol?

Don't do it. The pressure will follow the least line of resitance and put extroardinary pressure on the case mouth. Could cut the case mouth edge off and leave in chamber. On the other hand we used to turn 158 gr hb wadcutters around and load backwords to make devastating low velocity loads for snubbies.

Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
