    Berry's 30-30 loading question

Hey guys so I bought 30-30 bullets from Berry's. They are 150gr RNFP. I'm sure this question has come up a lot but I haven't found a good response. It says you can't load these faster than 1700 fps. My question is what powder and charge has anyone used that has worked for them? Loading data starts at 1900 fps in my Hornady book.

-What are your recipes (powder and charge) for these 30-30 bullets? Mostly for plinking.

    Thanks for the advice guys!!

Check loads for cast bullets. I've used h4198 for cast loads and had great luck. I use 16 gr with 160gr bullet.

Sr4756 11.1 grain is listed as max load but is accurate. 1576 fps and pressure is 36400 according to the Lyman 45th edition.

I have used it to plink at 100 yards, as far as knock down i dont know, I prefer my 30-06 for hunting or my 45-70.

Not to hijack, but I have some xtreme plated 30-30 bullets and I was under the impression you can do 2200fps with those

I'm using that bullet w/ 12 grns of Trail Boss. Nice soft recoil that is still pretty accurate @ 100 yds.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I was talking to a buddy at the range this weekend, who was shooting this exact bullet. He was using 16gr of 4198, yielded about 1500 fps out of his carbine length barrel. Really light load.

Haven't Chrono'd. Gonna guess right around 1000 fps.

bill steele according to the Lyman cast handbook the starting load for cast150 gr bullet with 4198 is 17.7 grains thats why that load is so light.

Went down and checked my Lee 2nd Edition, in his cast rifle section he lists loads for 150gr cast in 30-30 using IMR 4198 down to 14.0gr. Velocity was low 1400's.

I run 16gr h4198 for my 155gr gas checked LFP with great accuracy. This is right in the middle of the 15-17gr hodgdon recommends.
