IMR 4198 is on the fast side for .223, but shouldn't be an issue. Hodgdon has reload data on their site showing loads with that powder and 63 gr. Sierra pills. You have an extra buffer of safety if used for a 5.56 barrel to boot.I managed to get some IMR 4198 and I want to load some .223 50 grain Vmax rounds. If this can work for a 60 grain V-max, it can certainly work for a 50:
Bullet weight: Man. Powder Bullet Dia. C.O.L. Min Grs. Vel. Pressure Max Grs. Velocity Pressure

They show data for that combination on the web site.
