    forster coax press

just getting into reloading...not sure wich way to go... was looking into a dillon 550b
will be loading .338 lapua , .308 and 30-06...was told a better way to go might be a forster coax press for the larger rifle cal....anyone have any sugestions...only want to buy once..thanks

If loading for the calibers you mentioned and not pistol I would suggest single station press. The coax being the press preferred by match shooters. That being said I have one and a Rock Chucker and a LNL ap and a Dillon 550b. So not in to buy once.

For those calibers a single stage will be a better choice. The Co-Ax is the cream of the crop, a Rock Chucker another great option. Beefy presses are the way to go when doing larger rifle calibers.

I would go with a traditional single stage like a Redding Big Boss or Ultramag. The CoAx is a PITA when flipping the shellholder jaws and micrometer competition dies for the 338 Lapua may not clear the opening in the arm.

          I really like my co-ax

Bought it second hand here. It's got some cosmetic issues due to age (it's a Bonanza), but it is very easy to use on my .308 cases,

Just get on a back order list. Midway, Sinclair, or Grafs and sons.

I think Wideners had the lowest price. If you are willing to wait for it may as well get the best deal you can.

Flipping the jaws is a PITA, but there are fixes out there for it.

I use a Redding T7 turret press for 338LM (and sizing 308 before running them through a Dillon 650).
The T7 is solid enough to be precise, and you can leave 7 dies fully installed and adjusted. Plus they sell extra turrets.
Never follow the advice of Calguns Addicts,
They clearly don't know what they are talking about.

                        Difficult ones.

And there is the clearance issue. You won't be able to use micrometer sweaters cuz they won't clear. So now you are using a super precise press with less than precise dies.

Yup, 338 with a micrometer wont work.

I use a Forster Ultra Bullet Seater in .223, and the die / micrometer is massive, but I don't have anything close to a clearence issue.

From what I recall the older bonanza press has less clearance than the new forster co-ax. I have a new co-ax with no clearance issues but I don't load 338. 270 is my longest.
