Im loading 160grn cast 30 cal bullets with gas checks and im finding load data all over the board ... anyone have any loads an col numbers ? I use imr 4895

Your best results with cast in the M1 will come from a heavier bullet up around 180-200 gr. I have used the 311291 and 314299 in the Garand as well as the 311365, all work. Be careful in your powder selection the gas system can be picky. Cast boolits web site has a lot of info, under Military and cast. Gunboat is correct about 4895 working that was the original powder I think. You also want to be very careful on overall length, the tip of the bullet must not touch the rifling.Comment
