    Stuck 223 Case

Anyone know what size tap, drill bit and screw I need to use to remove a stuck case?

I think #7 drill bit for .223. 1/4" -20 tap. Maybe others can chime in.

I usually use a 1/4-20 or a 5/16-18 depending on the primer pocket size.

I'm local to the 818 if you want to come over...

I have used my SS to remove a stuck case, it took a lot of force, but it worked. Dillon dies come equipped with a solution.

Forgot to add, I also sprayed kroil oil in die.

This is why I love Lee sizing dies.

I have not had a stuck case since I started using Dillon case lube though.

I'm 1 for 2 on the You Tube method. The first time, the end of the rod mushroomed and I had to send it to Lee and for $5 they fixed everything.

The second time, it came out, but the expansion ball would not pass back out the neck, but a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel solved it nicely

.223 is notorious for stuck cases because of the thin, small rim. .308 uses a lot more force, but the big rim usually holds up to even to a poor lube job. I like the Dillon lube (99% IPA + Lanolin), but I find that the cases need to be cleaned off after sizing otherwise they remain sticky

I have little trouble using RCBS Spray Case Slick Lube Spray. I load 204Ruger to 50bmg using it. I have the RCBS stuck Case removing set and it has worked very well for many years. Drill, tap,pop the case loose from the die the use hacksaw(not in kit) to cut off bottom of case remove case with decap rod in it the slide decap rod out and reinstall into die.

                      Of course.
                      El Caminos are all green.
                      Impalas are all black.
                      Chevelles are all blue.

I have never been able to pull the expander out from the case. I usually give the case a couple spins with a pipe cutter to cut the case in half.
