Looks like I am going to do it, I am buying my first reloader

Fellow Calgunners, I am looking for help. I am getting a RL550B dillon press. I have some guys at my local gun shop to help me with some of the reloading basics but I will take all advice I can get. I will be loading 9mm, 40 s&w, .38, .223, .308, .300 wsm. What reference book should I get?
    My list so far
    -scale
    -reference book
    -case gauges
    -tumbler
    -primer flip tray
Remember I am brand new to this. I know I am forgetting a lot.

I have the Hornady reloading books, but just about any of the reloading books out there are a good start.
And congratulations on the new press.

Start looking for components. At this point in time, that will be the dificult part.

Lyman is a good choice. With the calibers your loading, I would get a 650.

You will also need a caliper and a way to trim your bottle neck cases.

            Spoken like a man with a 1050..

I agree, The Lyman books are good. Lee has the most load data, I love my Hornaday for when I am loading their bullets, which is often.

            Welcome to the club.

            Good luck, have fun.

We will see how it goes. I took a part time job at a gun shop and I know I spend more than I am making there. Good thing I have a good "real job" so the gun shop is just supporting my habit. I also need something to do between duck hunting and deer hunting.

No way, 550 is the way to go with all those calipers. Less expensive to change calipers and easier to do so with the 550.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

Are you serious...... No way a 4 station self indexing is better for rifle. I only said a 650 because he came out the gate going blue. If money is tight buy a LnL, GREAT press and you don't even have to worry about those stupid CC, just buy a 12 pack of bushings. You want 5 stations

Highly recommend the Lyman multi tool; large and small pocket cleaners, inner and out chamfers for ~$21.
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".

If you want to call Brian Enos and ask him what press he suggests. Or I can save you a phone call and just tell you, he'll say get the 550.

The 650 is faster than the 550 because of the case feeder. If speed is not a concern the 550 is the better machine. More versatile and simple.

A 5th station is not a reason to get a 650 over a 550 especially for rifle. For what? A powder check die? No thanks. First of all you can't double charge a rifle round. So what benefit would 5 stations be over 4 for rifle?

For multiple calibers the 550 is the clear winner.
If you're shooting thousands of rounds a month and need the speed of a case feeder the 650 is the clear winner. Or you just want to be able to load faster than a 550.

I've never had the need for a case feeder or a 5th station. So I like my 550.

                              I agree with this assessment.

For rifle, I load on a single stage, but then I am shooting them through bolt guns and 50 is a big day.

You will not regret the 550B.

                              Have fun, good luck.
