bullet seating problem

I have never loaded .308 with h308 but 47 grains of varget is coming up the neck

51gr of H308 is about max for a .308.

I'm thinking the OP is using the incorrect seating plug. It should match the face of the bullet.

i'm using the plug that came with the .308 lee deluxe die set. i'm loading with 168 gr hornady 30 cal .308 dia bullets. the powder doesnt come up all the way to the case mouth but half way between the case mouth and shoulder.
