sand blast media

has anyone tried to use sand blast media? like the black fine grain sand used in commercial dry sand blasters to clean their brass? i've thought about it but just wanted to know if anyone has tried it before. any opinions? thoughts? experiences?

Not like lead dust is good for you but silicon oxide is terrible for you.

I restore cars and that media is likley garnet. My blaster uses 85 grit garnet. Too abrasive for cases. It will cause damage not shine.

I've used the corncob sand blast media and it worked good. That was until I splurged and bought the stainless media system. Not going back.
It was the 1420 grade from grainger. Used a little zymol car polish and it cleaned just fine.
