    Cheapest 308 bullet?

I am shooting 308 at paper, 100y-400y. I have been using the 155 Palma at $150/500. I've seen some lighter ones for $135/500, but are there any bullets that are significantly cheaper?

Military pulldown bullets from Hi-techammo, they obviously dont have any right now, but when they did they were $110 per 1000 or so.

I also stocked up on Privi bullets from Grafs, they were around $160 per 1000 i think too. it was like $16 per 100 bag.

They also used to have good deals on speer 170 grn rnfp in .308 but the bullet deals have all dried up

        CHEAPEST?

For beyond 100 yards, I'd probably suggest a gas checked bullet. That might raise your costs though. To maybe 25% of what any jacketed bullet will cost you, rather than <15%.

Bruno's has Hornady 168 gr HPBT match bullets listed for $137/500, but they are currently out of stock. I've heard good things about the Hornady match bullets, but haven't used them myself.

Powder Valley has very reasonable prices. For 1000 Nosler Custom Comp 168 grain it is $213.50 plus about $20 for shipping. NOS65934. Out of stock currently but keep and eye out. They have lighter weights in stock for the same reasonable prices. Good Luck

                  Try the Nosler custom competitions.

Those are for M1 carbine loads. They may work, but it's like a pistol bullet.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I tried the Hornaday 178gr HPBT's mainly due to their great pricing (a while back now) and impressive BC. I was disappointed in the results. I get better results with 168/178gr AMAX's. For whatever reason the 155 AMAXs don't shoot as well in my favorite gun, so for this weight class I stick with 155SMK's.
