    Plated bullet ?

I've been looking at running plated bullets in my 9mm. I've been loading Bear Creek 125gr cast molly and Precision Delta 124gr fmj.

Do I load the copper plated bullets the same as Cast or Fmj bullets?

    Thanks,
    -Anthony

    Use cast data.

Berry's says to use start to mid range jacketed and keep velocities under 1200fps (I think that was the number). Extreme says you can push their bullets higher velocity wise (thicker plating, I think 1400 or 1500 was the number).

So the answer is, "it depends".

In my experience, you could use just about any published powder manufacturer load data for 124gr jacketed or lead and be fine. Maybe not if you are loading for Major 9, but anything you will find in the books, sure.

If you take G60's advice and load to lead levels you will be certain to be OK, regardless of brand considerations.

I have had no problems loading plated bullets to fmj loads. I here speed is the killer. As long as they aren't pushed at magnum velocities you're fine.

as fast as you want in a 9mm. most plated are rated 1200-1500 fps most 9 loads max at 1200fps

i find plated in 9mm work best between 950-1100 fps in sigs
