  • lee progressive press worth rebuilding?

i picked up a lee turret press (think its a pro 1000) about 8-10 years ago used along with about 30 dies and 4000 large pistol primers (got a deal on it all for 50 bucks )... now they have been in a non climate controlled storage since then so planing on the dies being toast with corrosion along with the press(press needed a new drive bar and plastic already), but wonding if its worth rebuilding and cleaning up to start reloading? or just go with a new press ?... and whats the shelf life or primers stored indoors? i am planing on reloading .40,.45acp,and .45 long colt ..... thanks guys for any input

Not good. Send them to me and I will dispose of them for you.

I think i have the same press as you. It's probably worth rebuilding if it's only the drive bar/plastic thing. Last i checked that stuff was less than 20 bucks. Btw, what happened to the drivebar? It's just a square steel rod....

Call Lee up and tell them about the press to see what you should do... Not trying to be cheap but they just might say "send it to us and let us take a look at it", then send you back a brand new one for next to nothing, if not free...

          Won't hurt to try...

In terms of presses, Lee will try to help you out - no matter how old your press is. I really don't see how someone could bugger up the drive rod, unless it's intentional. Mine is a little off center and they offered to tune it for free. All i'd have to do is send it to them.
As for customer service and backing their products, i like RCBS better though, even if their prods cost more.
