Ok, so I knew going in I knew things would test my patience because of the times we are in....BUT how in the heck can I buy a progressive press and not be able to find shell plates and dies???? I mean do they make more presses than shell plates??
Midway was to have the shell plates supposedly in this month. I went to the website today and all the dates have been updated to May or June

If I have a new Hornady Lock n Load AP can use other name brand dies? Funny I have found a few components...just need shell plates and dies...

Don't feel too bad b/c even if you could get your plates and dies, odd are you wouldn't be able to find the bullets, brass, primers or what-have-you to actually make your own. (unless you bought everything before the run. Of course, if you bought the ammo before the run, you wouldn't have to worry anyway.

Rcbs, lee, hornaday, dillon, redding etc will all work on dies. They are a standard size.

Nearly any standard threaded dies will work with the LNL AP.

What you need is out there. Just keep looking. I just picked up Dillon 9mm dies at all places Turners!.

Actually this may not be recieved with any kindness but it is all you panic buying newbies that 50% or more will not keep reloading after the dust settles are the problem. You are the problem that has caused this shortage and made it harder for us that have reloaded for many years.
Heck I could not even get a cleaning jag in 22 or 308 yesterday. This is for rifles I have owned for many years not some recent panic buy.
For those who have bought large amounts of stuff(including firearms) with the thought of selling it at a huge profit later I do hope you get stuck with it and loose money.
I had to borrow a box of 150gr 308 plain jane soft point bullets from a friend to load for the PH on my Africa trip. I have plenty of 308 bullets but they are Nosler/Barnes/Swift and mil surplus147gr. The ph just uses regular cup-n-core bullets. There were none local to buy. When things cool down I will pick up a box to replace them. Maybe even from some newbie who decides reloading is not for him afterall........until the next panic.

Sorry but even though I have helped out a few of you with stuff I do not feel sorry for you. YOU are the ones who have caused this and in doing so you not only inconvienced yourself but us who have been reloading all along

No reason to flame ya, I understand where you're comming from. I have had my firearms many years also but always bought ammo. My son just got interested in shooting and would like his whole family to shoot together. Made sense to me to go to reloading. I have ammo, but with 4 grandkids and a daughter-inlaw burning up my 9 mm I wanted to reload. Son and I will split the costs.
It's a tough time for everyone period, no matter if you are looking for components, ammo or even a firearm but I'm far from a "panic" buyer, been shooting for years.

I bought 4 before the SHTF. I'll sell you one for $99+shipping.

Just kidding. If you can find a #1 plate, it will work with minimal slop AND it is the proper size for .308. In fact the #1 was originally intended for .308 and 45 ACP, it's only recently that they came out with a dedicated #45 plate.

For now, just make sure you have at least 5 bushings and if worse comes to worse, screw the dies in and out and leave the bushings in the press.

You'll have the press long after this all blows over so just relax.

And welcome to all of the new reloaders out there! This is a fun and rewarding hobby. I just wish everyone didn't want to get into it all at one time! (i know current tyrannical circumstances have dictated the current state of frenzy)
