    Brass Score!

Was given 600+ winchester 30-06 cases, 500 new and the rest once fired. The only problem was that I only have 1 bolt action "06". Well I do have a M1a that I needed cases for as I am real low on 308. Solution, form the 30-06 cases into 308!

Used my trim and form die to set the shoulder a few thousands long, cut off the excess neck and then full length sized. Then a final trim and debur and I now have 600 308 cases.

Check your neck thickness. You shortened the cases 1/2" but then the full body diameter of the 30.06 case got swaged down to the neck diameter of the 308 case.

Sweet! & I thought I did ok scrounging up 215 pc of .223 yesterday @ the range.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

Damn I would have just traded you 500 new 308s for your 500 new 30-06s
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I may be preaching to the choir, but please be careful. Reformed brass is a different animal than the standard cartridge. Check case capacities carefully before loading up, you may have to drop charges considerably to keep within reasonable pressure limits.

If you're already on board here, ignore my meddle.

I'll swap you some 1x fired LC 99 & 01 LR brass for some 1x fired '06. I have about 120 LC and 40 Black Hills I'll toss in for 120 '06 cases.

No problem with recieveing frindley advise. I've been doing wildcats for about 20 years and still have all my parts! But a moment of carelessness could change that in an instance.

For genneral info for a 10 case smple of formed vs factory, the formed averaged 2.8 grains less capacity than factory. Which is on par with Military brass that I have compared in the past.
