Winchester PD ammo-Contaminated primers

Fired half a box of the personal defense ammo .45ACP. Think it was 230 hp. Noticed contamination around the primers. Called Winchecter and they told me to send "all" the unused ammo back. So I sent them all of it back after they sent me a prepaid label.
Yesterday I received a Certificate for $20 towards a Winchester box of ammo. Now what pisses me off is the ammo cost me $24 fo a box. So I'm $4 in the hole now!
I think Winchester was kind of cheap about this. They could have sent me a new box of ammo. That would have been more appropriate. Lesson learned. Think I will not use their PD ammo anymore.

Yea, 1/2 box. I don't think I'm being shady. I made an effort to make sure they did not sell a bad lot of premium ammo that people trust their lives to. I at least expected a replacement. I was not expecting much. Had to drive 8 miles to mail it back at a UPS mailing center. Guess I'm a slime ball!

Replacing bad product isn't good service...that's the standard. Good service is going above and beyond that.

I'm not calling anybody shady, but I wouldn't expect a refund of a whole box for half a box I sent in. Did you send a receipt with it, maybe $20 is MSRP? Depending on what kind of ammo it was, a lot of the LE/SD ammo in steel or nickel casings have sealed primers which can look like red locktite or can just look like gunk

If the "mystery" stuff around the primer bothered you that much, then why load it and shoot half of it before sending it off for a potential refund/credit? Did it impact the performance of the round at all?

If it was bad enough to necessitate you going through all the trouble you said it did, then I personally would not have loaded any of it, let alone firing half of it, before requesting my refund/credit.
