    Just use a drop measure and run it's setting up a bit at a time. Load one extra round of each charge test and don't shoot it. You can pull bullet later and weigh the actual charge then. This allows you to work right at bench even in wind. Lotsa' wind kinda helps to devalue the testing though

    Trickling is not that important for finding a barrel node. You can do that later at home once you have identified a charge value from at range testing. Trickling will help most to reduce SD in the long runs but not trickling will not invalidate node testing.

      I don't trust the powder measure to be as consistent as I want. If the charges are off, then it invalidates the test to some degree. If I'm going to test something properly, I want to be as precise as I can with the equipment I have. If I can measure powder to 0.1gr, then I want to load my test rounds to within 0.1gr.

      If I use the measure but don't trickle, and do the ladder test, how will I know what charge is best, if I don't know what charge my measure dumped? The time it takes to get the measure to throw a very consistent load, exactly the amount i want, I could have just gotten it close and just trickled the rest. For small quantities I think it's better that way.

        Measures are not that inaccurate, trickling and weighing each charge are over-rated for importance. At 200-300 yards this will not be an issue. At 500-1000 yards, yes it will show it's head, but barely.

        You can make a volume measure very accurate (+ - less than .1 grain) by tapping the measure handle twice to settle charge before reversing lever to throw charge. Be consistent with the lever actuation force and the charge thrown will be very consistent too.

        Velocity nodes are not so narrow that a very small velocity variation will put you out of it.

        .1 grain variance at 25gr charge weight is a 0.25 percent variation.
