Anybody using Lyman Treated Corn Cob Media?

Just got a box and was planning on adding some Nu-finish to it as well. Is that overkill since it's already treated? Thanks.

Save the nu-finish for when the media needs it. The treated stuff polishes well for a little while.

I've used the green stuff. It works pretty well. No need to add anything for a while.

I have used the Lyman green media too, works great until it get's old, then just add a little polish and mineral spirits and it works very well again.

Do yourself a favor and just go to a farm and feed supply store or a pet store and get your media there. For roughly the price of two pounds of name brand reloading media, I got a bag of fine walnut media at my local farm and feed supply that filled a 5 gallon bucket and my tumbler. The remaining media I gave to a friend, which was two gallon sized ziploc bags. I use the Dillon polish with my media.

I got a decent deal on, I believe, the 8 lb. box. When I run out I'm definitely going to give the pet store stuff a try. Thanks.

Pet/farm supply corn media works great. Blasting shops have walnut on the cheap,

Same stuff, without coloring and polish additives.

I got 2 50lb bags of walnut and 1 50lb bag of corn for $10 a bag from a guy on craigslist last year.. I split it up and gave some to my dad and brother. a 5lb batch will do 15k 40 cases or 10k .223 cases without replacing. A good way to extend the life of your media is to rinse out your brass with detergent and lay in on a large blanket to dry. Once dried, polishes up nice and fast in the tumbler all the while extending the life of your media.

I just dump some brass polish at the beginning and around 75% life. When it starts to get dusty or too dirty, I toss it. I usually only tumble for an hour or two. I stop caring for primer pockets since I didn't notice any improvements on my standard deviation with my load in regards to clean or dirty pockets.

The steel tumblers are great if you like clean primer pockets. 3x the entry price however.
