.300 win mag case splitting problems

i took my new ar-30 in .300 win mag to the range yesterday. ran 40 rounds thru it. 11 of the cases split, almost exactly the same place. WTF? these were some fairly expensive hornady rounds. also had a few problems with the bolt sticking tightly, but think this is due to the case splitting problem. any ideas on what the problem is?

Buy some CerroSafe for Brownells, take a chamber cast and find out if it is out of spec.

What size were your groups? Try double checking the bullet diameter, manufacturers do make mistakes when packaging sometimes

Doesn't look like the brass necks were annealed properly either...

I was gonna say try a different ammo brand, but I like to live on the safe side. Contact Hornady to see if it's QC on their part maybe send it back too. Worst thing could happen is you wait a week or two and find out it's their ammo, not your chamber, and they send you new ammo. Rather than it's your chamber and your face + burnt powder or worse.
