    15 year old primers

So what degree of reliability will come from 15 year old primers, small pistol and shotshell; been sitting for 15 years in ammo cans; my daughters were growing up during those 15 years, so got sidetracked per say. Now that two are in college and the 3rd is almost out of high school and shoots with me, time to start reloading. I won't tell you the fourth is in first grade cause you might laugh at me Yes, all girls

Anyway, is it worth reloading 100 +/- rounds to see how well they work?

Thanks for your input in advance.

I've haven't been reloading long enough to say for sure, but i can tell you that I have fired reloads that my great grandfather loaded in the 70s, they still go bang..

No floods? I say load 'em.

In fact, even if you had flooding, I bet they still go bang. 30wt motor oil flood, maybe not...

I have never kept any that long, but easily 5 years maybe a bit more. Unless they have been exposed to moisture or contamination, I am not sure what would go wrong.

I can't wait to see if anyone has experience with old primers.

Im sure it should work fine.
If they were in ammo cans it should be good to go. Just load a few and try it out.

You could always load a few in some cases without powder and projectile and try them out…

Some of my primers are around 25-30 years old
                    Stored indoors
                    Work fine

If you're making super important competition ammo or something for a police department then I'd use fresh primers just cuz.

For the range, my guess is they're probably fine and you won't have one problem.

Malthusian, you are one mean man to quote THAT number at us! LOL. I have some modelling paint that went for 15 cents a bottle, and it's the real McCoy, Testor's Pla. Last time I looked it was 10 times that at the store.

Absolutely good to go on the primers

I just used up a small batch i found in the bowels of the garage that I had bought in the 60's -- all went bang --
I even found a few from before wwii -- like to try them? I would use them but they are corrosive.
