    223 300aac 300 whisper powder

I was wondering if there a powder that work well with all 3 223 300aac blackout and 300 whisper?

I would like to know this also.

First, 300BLK and 300 whisper are the same. Second, no.

300BLK tends to use pistol powder, like H110 and A1680. Pistol powder will blow up your rifle for .223.

IMR 4895 with 14+ grains will cycle 300 blk but only push the bullet at around 1400 fps *147gr bullet. 4895 will also certainly work well with 223.

Otherwise yes h110 or lil gun for 300 blk. The nice thing is if you reload for manigum pistols the powder can be shared here.

I could not get a carbine gas system to reliably cycle a 150gr bullet under 1600fps.

I apologize I checked over my log and it looks like my I had 17-18 grains of imr4895 under a compressed load to cycle it at speeds of 1300-1400 fps. I admit I only have roughly 20 shots in that range so I can't speak to its reliablity, but I am not showing any issues for those after 17 grains. Anything below had failures to cycle.

thanks guys. I know the 300aac is a shorter case and figured it would be a pistol load. Time to start working a sub sonic and super sonic load like I did fir the 300 whisper

If you are willing to shoot 220 grain Sierras in the 300 at about 1050 FPS, then Hodgdon says you can use 4198 (either IMR or H) for ACC and .223. Not optimal though.

AA1680 for the 7.62x35, but not for .223/5.56 sorry.

I really wanted to try subs but I have not gotten around to buying cast bullets or trying to make my own.

If anyone in or near SF wants to buy an unopened 8lb jug of A1680 PM me.

what weight bullets are you planning on shooting? H4198 may be suitable for heavy 7.62x35 and lighter 5.56. check the Hodgdon website

Missouri bullet co makes a nice 245gr for the 300 aac. 1680 is my powder of choice for subsonic work. If I was inclined to drive 2 hours and get lost in one way streets, I would go pick up your jug.

umm if you already worked up loads for your Whisper you are pretty much there for the Blackout, most guys use Whisper data for the Blackout.

Oh if only you were in LA, I haven't found 1680 anywhere

But OP I recommend that you use Ramshot tac for 55-75gr .223, it also works well with 308! For 300blk I use lil gun since it offers high velocity with lower pressure, it supposedly works subsonic as well but I've heard it may not cycle in a 16" carbine. I will load some up this week and see if it works. Too bad there isn't some voodoo powder that will work with everyhing
