    New bullet for .223...OAL?

I couldn't find and of my regular projectiles anywhere, so I picked up some Berger 73gr BT Target bullets...I went to load a dummy round with the ol' magic marker trick see where it sits on the lands and I came up with 2.419 OAL. Question is.....this particular rifle (savage 10) likes 5-7 off the lands, which still puts me rather long compared to what I am use to with the 69gr smk. I can fit it in the mag, but just barely. Its rather disconcerting to see a .223 round that long. It still has about 1/4 of the bullet seated in the case, with the BT just below the base of the neck....should I run it that long? Can't find much data on the 73gr....in perspective, a 75gr A-Max has a suggested OAL of 2.390....I don't know....

Try it with the min. powder drop, should be ok.
Or just load to SAAMI OAL.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

My understanding is the Bergers often like a lot more jump than you're contemplating. I have seen figures as high as .120, so you may need to experiment some.
