Came up on some old powers, GTG?

Update in post #13, I found some more stuff and need help ID'ing it

They were with a gun collection I helped clean out along with a bunch of OLD ammunition
(some of the cooler ones I held onto, the rest of the boxes literally crumbled away)

So you think theyre GTG? They are still sealed cans, what should I look for if I crack them open?

Powder actually lasts for quite awhile. Not much wrong with the containers, little rust and still shiny. All are pluses.

When you open them, take a whiff and if there is an acid smell, prolly not GTG. If it is reddish when poured out and is dusty, pour a small amount onto a paper towel for instance, it's no good.

From the pix, it looks like it was well stored and should be okay.

If the cans are sealed, it should be fine. No different than the 50 year old powder in all the surplus ammo people shoot up everyday.

Perfect, thanks guys. Once I open them I will be sure to inspect, maybe pour some out and report back with a picture.

Anyone have a guess as to how old this stuff is? The place I got these had several more of the Unique cans in the garage

I would say late '60s. The unique i had was from the mid 70's - they had changed from that square can to a cardboard cylinder container. Those cans probably have a little collector value too

I got the same kind of score you did, A buddy gave me his dads old gun stuff. Powder and vintage ammo, bunch of .22's 30-40, .30 carbine, paper shotshells. 50s 60s 70s stuff

Still shooting up the .22, works like the day it was made

The place I got all of this has a couple thousand rounds of .22 but I left it because the boxes crumbled so badly I left them for now. If they work well I will definitely grab them when I go back

I would use them. They look to have been stored very well.

Don't open the powder till you need it -- no air, no deterioration.

                          Found some more stuff -

These primers are still good to go, right? They were stored nicely and date around the mid 70's

Lots of .30 Carbine, this one was the old man's loads

308/7.62 NATO brass, boxes labeled with year and 'once fired'

The two on the bottom right are labeled "7mm FN-46", and are filled with empty versions of these:

Of which there are hundreds. What do these belong to?

Then there is all this new brass:

                          And these things:

                          What do these belong to?

This I think is 7mm Mauser

FN 46 is likely berdan primed and possibly corrosive.

30 USA = 30/40 Krag -- premium now with only yearly brass runs by makers.

Herters stuff is the old herters (went out of business in lte 70's) not cabellas -- It is all good, cartridges, primers and bullets.

No reason not to use the primers etc, should all go bang -

I don't recognize the two items with the 1/4-20 studs, though I feel like I should know them -- another view of them perhaps --

I would say you have a pretty valuable lot ---

As a person who spent some time sorting and selling stuff from a friends estate -- The word is patience ---
We all want a bargain, but you need to sort and sell in small lots to get the best price -- I presume you do want sell off what you don't need --
