Just pulled the trigger on a reloader

Got the Lee Classic Turret Press kit and the deluxe die set for 223.
I want to load on the cheap, not doing long distance accuracy at this time. But I need bullets, primers and powder. Any recommended sites? I promise not to clean hem out.

Is a 22-caliber .224 Diameter 69 grain ok? How about 22-caliber, .224" diameter, 55 grain ok? What confuses me is the .224 diameter.

Yes, .224 bullets are what you want for .223. 55 grn or 62 grn will both work great, if your trying to load on the cheap go wih 55 grn.

          What's your barrel twist?

Get the lyman #49 reloading manual and read it. That will answer moat questions and then you will have an excellant manual with load data also.
The .224 bullets are the correct ones for the 223rem.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Let me know if you need any help. I'm in La Mesa. I also have a LCT on the bench somewhere. I remember I could barely get enough powder to drop for 223. I had to open the powder slider thing all the way open. I never did try to use the disks though. I was using TAC and with the powder slide all the way open I was able to get 25gr to drop which at least functioned my rifle.

And like mentioned above you'll want to stay away from the really heavy bullets unless you have a 1:7" twist barrel. Boat tail bullets are easier to load also. I only buy those.

              Good luck.

If you got a kit it should come with a load data book that has most popular loads.

How did u break the die? Do u mean the decapping pin? If just the pin, u can get another one from lee through their warranty.

It was the decapping pin. Went through 120 brass casings and broke after the 5th steel case. Yes, I cleaned and lubed them.
