    .500 S&W Loads

Was inspired by the .460 Thread, ive always regretted selling my .460 and ended up with a 4" .500.

Getting bored with the 350 Grn Berry's projectiles, and want to replicate and expand on some of the heavier buffalo bore rounds ive bought.

The buffalo bore ammo i shot was 440 gr. L.F.N.-G.C producing 1,625fps/M.E.2579ft.lbs, and it was Gnarly.

Looking for pet loads and suppliers of wicked bullets, particularly something that will do fine in a 4" barrel

leadheadsbullet 440grn GC with 36.5grns of H110 out of my 8inch produces about the same power as the buffalo bores ammo.

This is a pretty hot load and it stung the first few times i shot it. Now after about 40 rounds, It doesn't hurt as much but its still a round to be respected. really beats up the metal swingers at my range. and shoots out some pretty crazy fireballs.

The good old 500, I have not loaded for a while letting my wrest rest. After I was bored with the 325gr I have found http://www.mattsbullets.com. Great selection of .500 S&W, anywhere from 325 up to 700gr!

Matt's bullets is great but he takes a while to ship, always back ordered. Im pretty sure the 700s are not recommended for the 4" (wont stabilize) but couldn't hurt to try. I really like the 450g Keith's. 10g unique for a light load or ramp it up with h110 or 296.

I have the 7.5" PC smith and those 700s spit lead back so I don't shoot too many, but they are a handfull with 25g of h110
Some old but interesting data here. http://www.reloadammo.com/500sw.htm

2nd on the shipping time with Matt....but best selection I have found. When you have 700gr flying out the barrel who needs it to stabilize!

700grn = 1.6oz. 12guage slug is only 1oz and this is coming out of a pistol. yeah its fun
