Ammo in Gun Shows in 2013

With ammo being harder to find online in certain calibers and brands with online vendors being sold out, and local stores having less in-stock.

Has anyone tried the gun shows with a report of the amount of ammo available?

I went to a couple shows in the Bay Area last year (before the panic) and thought the lines for ammo were already crazy at that time. I can't imagine how much worse it will be nowadays

ontario crossroads was nuts. the ammo vender i use (surefire) arrived with no 9mm rounds and only about 20,000 40cal rounds. i got up to their counter around 930 and their 9mm sign said that if i ordered at the show they would ship it for free in 3-4weeks so i ordered 1000 rounds. my brother had a few coworkers give him money to pick up 40cal, he walked away with 4000 rounds, there was only 3000 left. those are the only two calibers we bothered waiting in line for. didn't even want to deal with trying to get 223/556
          I don't own any guns...they're dangerous.

oh and i called surefire friday afternoon to check on prices before i went to the gun show.

            $185/1000 rounds of 9mm
            $222/1000 rounds of 40cal

prices were only up about $6 from last year. i made sure to thank them for not upping prices like everyone else. "we know its hard out there for everyone" was their response. awesome

            got to the show.

            9mm/1000 rounds $217
            40cal/1000 rounds $245

*******s. supply and demand i guess. still cheaper than the next cheapest online company we've used.

                ...WARNING...

I have been to gunshows, Sold at gunshows.
At times, I couldn't give away any 223. Now, I can't find any.
My last show I visited, had NO AMMO at all.

Now, here is the warning part. There are loaders at the show too. Some good, some bad. I have had them both. Thay are all nice guys, and the loads are great.

BUT, Befor you try to shoot any of there loads, Remove the upper off your AR and using just your thumb, Chamber all of your rounds. If the rounds seat with a Click, keep that round. If you can't chamber that round, DON'T FORCE IT. remove it, and set it off to one side. That round will have to be rebuilt.

If you have a Mint-14, or AK type, you're on. But in an AR, watch out.

Don't beleve me? Try it. Better safe than sorry.

Also, save your brass. Some loaders will give you a discount, and they will hold ammo for you till you come in with your brass. And if it is clean, not trash brass, your discount could be higher.

Gunshow loaders are great people and are cheaper, But remenber Mad Max and the shotgun shell? Check out the movie
