    458 SOCOM

Just got my 458 SOCOM upper from Wilson Combat, just in time for Christmas! Went ahead and loaded some test rounds to try out this weekend!

Whats the reasoning on not seating to the crimp pocket?? Just wondering?

The bullet is actually designed for the 45-70. Seating the bullet to the cannalure will set the bullet too deep into the cartridge reducing powder capacity and increasing chamber pressures. Currently, the way the bullet is seated, the base of the bullet is just below the shoulder of the case.

You are going to love it. Shoot a 5gallon bucket filled with water with one of those rounds.

Ok makes sense... I was thinking it was pressure issue related...

Also does it use a standard multi upper? Or is it custom like the 500 beuwolf? Seeing that round makes me want one!

From what I understand, all parts for the upper are the same as 5.56 except for the barrel and bolt and the ejection port needs to be opened up to accommodate the larger round. I bought the upper completely assembled so I can't tell you for sure, though.

I'm hoping to shoot it this Sunday if the weather holds up. It's supposed to be sunny!
