    Lubing cases

Hey guys! Just wondering about lubing my cases before reloading them. If I use my lee case lube with 1 part of it to 4 parts 80% rubbing alcohol then put the cases in a shoe box and mist them will I be fine for resizing them? Also if I wipe them down after sizing can I charge them or should I wait a day so they can dry out just in case? I'm using lee pacesetter dies. Thanks a lot and merry Christmas!

Yes, you can lube like that, just don't use much and shake the box to distribute lube. Even better would be to use Dillon lanolin spray lube which is completely safe to use without removing before charging.

Shouldn't be an issue with that combo still on cases to charge. Tumble loaded rounds when done for a short period to give you dry ammo.

Also, this is what you should do for rifle brass (always lube rifle brass), for straight wall pistol brass, if you use a carbide sizing die, no lube is even needed. That way, dies stay clean and so does brass :-)

I don't use the Lee lube, I use homemade Lanolin & 99% Isopropyl alcohol.

If the Lee lube is similar to Lanolin, you'll be better off not using 80% Isohol; it's got too much water to let it mix completely. 91% or 99% will work much better.

My lube is liquid Lanolin ($7 / 4 oz. @ Amazon) and 99% Isopropyl alcohol in a 1:12 ratio.

Toss some brass into a gallon ziplock bag, spray 3 or 4 sprays, knead a bit, and dump out to dry for a minute.

Size brass and dump into corncob tumbler for 20 minutes to remove lube.

Lanolin oil and 99% isopropyl alcohol (not 91%). Google it and never look back.

Imperial sizing wax a $6 tin wil do 4000-8000 .223. Put cases in bus tub. Put some on your palms, pick up cases and grip by the handfuls....

Where would one buy Lanolin oil?

                    Many buy it on Ebay.

Whole Foods has it occasionally. Those retail beauty supply places sometimes have it.

I just buy the Dillon pump bottle (which is the same thing), works great.

RCBS pump spray Case-Slick has been great for me. Easy, fast, cheap and does a great job on everything from 204Ruger to 50bmg. I just put the brass in a metal baking pan, spray, shake, spray again, shake and resize. Then dump the brass into a large old towel, fold the towel over the brass and rub the brass. Lube is gone.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

+1 on the RCBS pump spray. After trying this stuff I put my RCBS lube pad in a box in the rafters. I used to make homemade lube from Lee Lube (in the tube) mixed with alcohol at a 1:10 ratio. When I ran out I tried the RCBS spray. It is very good and economical. And I am a diehard Lee guy!

I do the lanolin alcohol mix right now I have the 91% because I couldn't find the 99% but will order the 99% it will dry that much faster with less residue.
