Just got off of the phone with my credit card's fraud department.

The only place I had used my card in the last 10 days was Powder Valley.

Apparently someone then used it to buy $3000 worth of stuff off of eBay.

Glad they caught it. Waiting for a new card.

Be careful when buying online.

Meh...maybe a little quick to blame them. I got the same call this week. GameStop charges, investment in Pakistani airlines?, and a ton of calling cards. I hadn't used this card in over 6 months. My other card which I've recently used at PV was fine. I'm much more concerned with my wifi/devices being secure that any business' website.

for sure another useless post... there is no way you can blame PV for this.. Cards are hacked into all the time.. I also got an order from PV last week with ho issues...

I use this card exclusively online. Usually only MidwayUSA or Amazon. Never at a restaurant or in person.

I have used both credit cards & ATM cards with powder valley over the last 3 or 4 years. I have never had a single problem. Yes, there is a risk ANYTIME you pay for something online, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy from Costco, Amazon or Walmart. Sorry for your troubles, but don't blame PV...

Card numbers are often recycled. They are easily exchanged on the onion web.

I had an AMEX that I never used for 3 years. One day, a $14k bill showed up from a Home Depot in Thousand Oaks, hundreds of miles where I live. Someone literally bought an entire kitchen for themselves.

It happens.

In the past 2 months I've made 4 online purchases. Last Saturday my card was declined, no phone call. I checked with a branch that is open on Saturdays and somebody had purchased $44 of gas from an Exxon in Virginia causing the bank to freeze my account.

Only $44, I'm glad they caught it before it was more, BUT: I'm without a card until the week of Xmas! Got to take the wife to see her mother -- cash is going to be king.

It doesnt matter where you use your card, or even IF you use your card. It WILL be used for fraud eventually. Make sure your CC company or Bank has a good fraud department. I've been disputing a $700 charge with my bank for 3 months now.

cards that get stolen online through various means are not always used right away. Often they are sold or traded multiple times through underground channels before anyone uses it.

just be glad you used your credit card and not your debit card. Its much better to dispute charges on a CC than to fight to get funds back from a checking account that was drained because it was tied to your debit card.
