    .223 resizing problem

I just had a friend ask me a question and I didn't know the answer. He has a lee full length .223 resizing die and when he pushes the brass through the die, the brass is coming out extremely scratched up! I told him to clean his die and he said that he did and he also said that he is lubing the cases enough. Any suggestions?

did he check the die to see if there is damage to the walls? Any pics of the "scratches"?

Dirty brass or the die is scratched inside.

Have him examine the brass he already resized. If the scratch marks are the same then the sizing die is scratched like others have stated. My die does the same thing, scratches that is but does not affect the function. As long as the scratches are not gouges then he'll be good.

get a picture of the brass. What hes probably seeing is the die squeezing the brass back to size. It leaves superficial streaks and won't affect the brass.
