Im pretty sure the XD9 will shoot whatever you put in it.
I think most shooters prefer a brass case basic 115 grain projectile for range and practice.
    Nice purchase!

Yep, it'll eat anything. Buy, shoot, and enjoy.

          good advice on saving brass

The feedramp on mine seems to get dirty quick with lead bullets, but then I use liquid alox and surely put too much on too. FWIW.

Dunno why but my Ruger sr9c doesn't get gunked up like that. I only shoot reloads so I don't know what commercial ammo does but mines been pretty good, just requires a bit more cleaning.

I tend to stick with brass 115gr. I've tried most of the major brands in my Sig and haven't had any problems. You'll probably find that your XD will eat anything as well. Stock up on whatever is cheap.

Buy whatever is cheap and shoot as many different brands as you can. Should eat anything as already said, but maybe it wont like something..... Better to find out on the range than when you need it....

I mostly shoot 115gr fmj brass cased through my 9's, but have shoot just about everything. I carry 147's and prefer the way the heavy bullet shoots, but 115 are cheaper to practice with.

I say just shoot whatever will work in your gun but definitely shoot brass. That way you can save it for reloading and if not can sell it to a reloader to make "some" money back.

My go to ammo for practice before reloading was Winchester White Box 115gr (wwb) from Wal-Mart. Was usually in stock whenever I was there but might be hard to come by now...
