    Question about ammo

I purchased remington rifle 223 yesterday from Walmart and i noticed the tips seemed "melted"(couldn't think of a better word). I was wondering if this was normal or a defect. Thanks in advanced.

Normal for lead softpoints. Its exposed lead and it will do that, allows the bullet to expand when it hits flesh.

Uh, disagree, have you ever bought soft point lead ammo? I have a whole case of hunting 30-06 manufactured just like that.

It's called a Soft Point, for a reason.....
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I agree with bruce381 -- the soft tip is not supposed to be mashed larger than the jacket opening -- No real harm, but does indicate some mishandling --
Perhaps the box was dropped with the tips down --
