Ah I see, then you won't need it then. I have both and I like the ball versus the stud when doing hundreds of cases.

You want one of the cutters and one each of the length gage for each differnt caliber you want to trim. The length gage screws into the cutter on the cutter side and acts as a pilot and keeps you from trimming too much off the case mouth as it will bottom in the primer hole.

You won't need the shellholder that comes with the length gage (it too is caliber specific) until you want to move up to power trimming (something I don't recommend until you get some experience). Scheesh, just get the book and all will be revealed.

All the Lee single stage presses with which I am familiar come with a primer arm (actually 2, 1 for small primers and 1 for large primers).

You may or may not need to full length size the cases, they may chamber in your rifle with only neck sizing. It still is good to get a F/L sizing die (as well as a Lee collet neck sizer for subsequent sizing).

Get a copy of Lee 2nd Edition Reloading Manual when you get the press and read the reloading how-to section, it is not all that long. After that you will have tons of load data to try out with your 270.

If you buy the Lee single stage kit they have 2 options, one with the arms as you mentioned and one with hand primer tools. Just pick the one you like. (also comes with trimming tool) I think I paid $109 for the whole kit from midway.

The Lee case trimmers work great ( I prefer the case holder that chucks in a drill ) but you will need a chamfer tool to deburr the in and out edge.

However, the Lee chamfer tool sucks. Dont waste your money on that, get a decent chamfer tool.

If you are talking about the Breech Lock Challenger and the Breech Lock Anniversary Kit, I think they both come with the primer arms that work with the press. The Breech Lock Challenger also comes with the hand primer, the Anniversary Kit only comes with the arms that work with the press, but also comes with the Safety Prime that automates the primer feeding to some degree. At least, that is the way it was the last time I was shopping.

The Lee Pacesetter dies will work fine. There isn't a priming die. Lee sells a handheld priming tool that works great.

Definitely get the Lee priming tool over the RCBS. My RCBS priming tool wasn't seating the primers all the way, so I had to get another rod from RCBS. It's slightly better now...

Otherwise, I love RCBS products...

Santa Clarita area. If you really want, I could bring a Lee hand press, scale, trimmer, dies, and components with me this weekend. I'll be camping/hunting in the Carrizzo Plains and will just be resting and hanging around in the early afternoon. So, if you want to come out that way, I'll give you a couple hour lesson on how to reload without anything fancy or electric. Just shoot me a PM by Thursday morning if you want me to bring some stuff. I'll probably bring either 30-06 or 7.5 Swiss since, I need to loaad a few lead free rounds for both and I don't have dies, brass or bullets for .270.
