    XL 650 not ejecting rounds

I just setup my XL650 and it is not ejecting the finish round. I swapped ejector wires. The round just guides out half way out the shellplate and gets stuck? Any ideas here.

Kinda guessing here, I've never had this problem, but how tight is your shell plate bolt?

It should just be tight enough, but be easily rotated manually by putting a finger in one locator and turning it to the next station.

Way back when, when I setup my 650 I found I needed to do the spring mod to make my shell plate easier to move.

My shell plateis snug. It rotates freely by hand.

I've only had that problem with 9mm. They recommend opening up the shell plate a bit on the corners to help it eject sooner (but just for that caliber). I also slow my stroke down just as it hits the shell (just for that caliber).

kind of a pain, but it is possible that they may have an updated shell plate for finicky calibers.

There shouldn't be any problem with .45, I've loaded over 15k rounds of .45 on my 650.

I would call Dillon tomorrow and explain it to the tech on the phone. They'll likely have some questions and suggestions.

Yes, they are there on Saturdays last time I checked.

Is the ejector wire installed low enough?? It should be almost touching the shellplate.

I am loading 9mm. I was told to cut the spring under the shell plate that the ball sits on by a coil. The ejector wire is kind of high where it goes into the dillon I was think about trimming it down some. I am not loading as fast as I like.
Thank you for your help so far.

If the ejector wire rides high it tries more to tip/jam the case up, rather than push it off the shellplate. Get that wire as low as you can without it scraping up the top of the shellplate and it will eject the cases better.

Clipping the spring on the index ball would just soften the motion of the indexing of the shellplate and prevent it from snapping into place so hard....which causes the powder to fly out of smaller cases that are nearly full of powder.

I have tried to trim the vertical part of the ejection wire, but mine still tends to ride up over the shell plate.

however, I now have a new machine for small calibers so I will try it all out on that one soon.
