Price on 223 / 5.56

What would be a good "per round" cost for .223 / 5.56 ammo? I see prices all over the map for regular ball ammo and want to make sure I don't get taken.

For factory ammo, last year I paid about $6/20 to $280/1k… 28-30 cents per round

Forward to now and it’s more like $6.99/20 to $350/1k… but I have seen higher depending on what you want and where you look. 35 cents per round...

If you seek out deals at places like Slick Guns or PSA you can sometimes get a better price.

Retail outlets like Turners standard prices are out of control, I’ve seen up to $9.99/20 for 55gr M193

I try to buy the Federal 100 packs at Walmart for $35. It's about as cheap as you can find these days.

That's a decent price, the federal 100 rnd value packs at my local walmarts have been 39.97 for a long time, at least for two years now. Walmart occasionally has the federal xm855 in the 30 cal can on strippers for 164.00- even after tax that beats any online ammo seller.... Too bad it's rarely in stock (:
