Dies: I use LEE... they work great.

Bullets: Hornady makes them (170 grain SP)

Brass: You can use 30/30 and then full length size them (it was cheaper for me to buy that than the 32 brass). Has worked great for me.

Powder: Win 748. When I plink around, I use a 1.6 dipper... Nice recoil, saves powder

FYI: Go to http://www.midwayusa.com and type in "32 winchester special" in the search box.. You'll find everything you need.

Never would have guessed that you can use 30/30 brass looks to be too much of a strech????

ANy Dies would do for me same for bullets,, I`m still not sure if I`m going to like this gun so I`m looking to give it a try so cheap is best for now...

Well, the cheapest dies are LEE, and the cheapest bullets are Hornady. What kind of gun is it? If you don't like it, let me know.

If you check the case dimensions (I used my loading manual to compare) the 30/30 is a smidge shorter in OAL, but even so, they are most likely "fire-formed" once in the chamber. The cartridge is literally a widened neck on a 30/30. Its' just that the 30/30 won the popularity contest. I haven't had ANY issues with using 30/30 brass at all. However, this was when I was having trouble finding .32 WS brass (which midway has at this point). Just be ABSOLUTELY sure NOT to chamber that in a 30/30. . . I don't have one, so I don't' have to be super extra cautious.

FWIW, I love the gun that I shoot with it (It's actually my wife's).

Buy a couple boxes of factory ammo if you just want to try it out.

The differences in body and shoulder will be ironed out in sizing and firing. My opinion is that if it has a good bore and shoots, it is probably worth keeping. Never know when you will need a pre 64 Winchester, or when you will meet someone else who needs one. One alleged advantage of the .32 win spl was the ability to use lead bullets and black powder. Black powder would be a moderate pain to clean up after, but lead bullets would be pretty useful and cheap to plink with.

In todays market dies, brass and bullets might actually be cheaper than 2 or 3 boxes of loaded ammo. Also, performance differences between the .32 spl and .30-30 should be slim to none, despite claims to the contrary.

Something I was thinking of with the 32 win spl. They all are formed from the 375 Winchester case head. In years past, it was thought that you could "hotrod" the 30-30 winchester by forming cases from the straightwall 375 Winchester by necking it down to .30-30 Win. The thinking was that the 375 Win cases were rated to 50,000 psi while the 30-30 was only rated to 35,000 psi. Now the 375 Win brass is probably just as hard to locate, but it's an option you could look into.
