    Bullet sizing & lubing

I have been reloading for a number of years.

Just recently I have begun sizing lead bullets. I am using a Lyman 450 press.
It doesn't seem very efficient. I went on YouTube and saw a Star bullet sizer (no longer made). It seems so much better than what I'm using.

Does anyone know if the Star system is better and why there are no other new press that use a similar system?

Check out Magma Engineering. They have been making Star type lubesizers for many years. I use a Lyman 45 for small runs of oddball sizes and my Star, mounted on a Midway universal heater, for runs over a couple hundred. The Star is worth every penny but, sizing dies aren't cheap.

The Star machine is still in production:

As for what you have now, I wore out the Lyman 450 I had, and replaced it with an RCBS Lube-a-matic. RCBS has since replaced that model with the Lube-a-matic II, but I favor the original. You can still pick up the lub-a-matic on flea-bay for a reasonable price.

I used a Star in the late 70's, but funds dictated that I go with the Lyman and later with the RCBS.

        Hope this helps you out...
