Can my AR take 5.56 rounds

I have 5.56 Nato brass to reload. But I'm worried about reloading this Brass. So I was looking at my rifle and found a stamp on my barrel 5.56 x 45 1/9 I know that the 1/9 is my twist. Does the stamp mean that I can use a 5.56 round. Can anyone clear this up for me.

I know it sounds silly to ask just wanted to be 100% What more then to ask guys that has been doing this alot longer then Me. I love My rifle and my hands and face. I don't want to hurt myself or others. Thank you all for your comments.

Lots of AR barrels that say 223 on them actually have 556 chambers and vice-versa.

OP, practically speaking you can consider 223 and 556 interchangeable just be mindful of pressure signs as some kinds of milspec ammunition are loaded dangerously hot even for proper 556 chambers.

Not sure what u are asking above me but I have yet to see any published data for 556 only 223. The brass is sort of interchangeable

You can start out w/ 5.56 brass. But if you are reloading it w/ .223 dies, aren't effectively converting the brass to .223?

There are not different dies for .223 Remington and 5.56X45 mm. The external dimensions of the brass are identical. The differences are in the brass thickness and the chamber to barrel lead.
