got an idea. (primer pickup tubes)

Ok, I reload on a progressive press and so when I am pressing out a lot of ammo my prime tubes are always rolling around on my desk.. so I have designed a stand for them. This stand will hold 5 tubes or either large or small, top has holes for large tubes and bottom has holes for small. Let me know what you guys think I am thinking about getting these made for resale so if you are interested or have any constructive criticism.

    Thanks

Why not an empty soup can like I use for a pencil/pen holder?

Or a chunk of 2x4 with some holes drilled in it?

On my Dillon pickup tubes the ends are pretty easy to damage, I store them horizontally in a rack. I only load up as many as I am going to use in a session.

Yup the idea is you can pita couple together like a puzzle almost to make them scalable.

Is that going to be an injection molded part? Where do you get something like that done?

What kinda material? It might need to be thicker cause the dillon primer pick up tubes are just plastic openings, might not be super strong. But I do like the idea

I load up my primer tubes label them and store them in an empty plastic pretzel jar to keep the moisture out. I don't like leaving primers out in open air.

Injection molding would be too costly upfront. I am looking at having them made out of aluminum on a cnc mill.

The material is 1/2" thick which secures the whole plastic end of the dillon style tubes before they neck up.

I am working on getting a physical prototype to do some testing and verify sizes and I will do a test for breakage on the tube tips.

Im definently interested, what would be a price point if you decide to start selling them?

Check out the cost ( and material waste) of doing this vs a rectangular block.
Considering you're competing with empty soup cans , it may be best to keep your costs low.

Also, considering you can only use one side at a time, save some costs machining only one side (won't the LP tube fit in the SP slot? If so, you may be able to create a universal block and not have to deal with two designs)

                          Just my 2 bits...

Food for thought on material waste. As for the two sided I am firm in that as when I reload I would rather have one item that will accommodate more sizes than one item for each. Makes for a better use of ones space and money.

As far as cost I am waiting to hear back from the machinist. Ideally I would like to have it around a $15 price point as I think that would be fair for a well designed and machined piece of aluminum.

Do you need those little "pins" in each hole? That will be very difficult to machine, even for a cnc mill. By the way, that is the reason I thought you were going to make a molded part. If you could use a simple flat-bottomed hole, that would simplify things a great deal.
