    w748 load data for 7.62x54r

I am looking start reloading 7.62x54r for my Mosin (The bore slugs at .311).
I have some w748 powder but can't find any load data for it. I would also be interested to know what bullets are popular with this load. I usually shoot the surplus ammo, and am pretty happy with it, but I want to load mo own for when I go to range that doesn't allow steel ammo.

I also would like to load for my AK (7.62x39) and would like to use the same powder.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, load data for the 7.62x54R isn't nearly as available as for .223 Rem, .308 Win, and .30-06. With the increasing popularity of these rifles, hopefully that will change soon. This is true of both Lyman's 49th and Lee's Modern Reloading.

If your powder's not listed, you can generally begin with the starting loads for .308 Winchester and (carefully!) work up, since the .308 Win is just slightly smaller than the 7.62x54R in case capacity. Modern Reloading can be very helpful here, since it has fairly extensive pressure data for .308, especially in the cast bullet section.

For the AK (assuming 7.62x39), you might be better served with H322 or H335, depending on your bullet mass.

I never used W748 on those caliber, but I did use H335 and BL-C(2) for 7.62x54r and 7.62X39.

Both powder meters really well from a powder drop. Personally, I prefer to use Varget for 54R and BL-C(2) for 39.

I tried 748 and CCI large rifle primers and was getting hangfires maybe I should have used mag primers...switched to IMR 4895 and so far so good! A few times the powder failed to ignite completely and just left a clump of yellow unburnt powder with the 748. For 7.62x39 I use IMR 4198
